About Course

In this six-hour experiential workshop, designed for licensed and associate licensed professional counselors, we will learn strategies to integrate Polyvagal Theory and Ignatian Prayer. Many clients seek counseling with clinicians who share their faith and need a safe environment to explore their view of God in light of personal and collective traumas. This workshop offers a trauma-informed approach to spiritual integration, which provides approaches for preventing spiritual abuse with clients.

Grounded in the principles of trauma-informed care and Polyvagal Theory, you will learn how to integrate Polyvagal skills with prayer practices developed by Ignatius of Loyola. This integration will help you learn how to adapt practices regardless of your or your client’s faith orientation. Integrating these skills will help you create a safe environment for clients to explore past traumas and their view of God through co-regulation. You will also be empowered to offer holistic care to clients seeking a healing environment that integrates their faith into therapy.

This is an experiential workshop where clinicians will have opportunities to integrate knowledge of the theory with live practice and discussion.
