Spiritual Accompaniment with Trauma Survivors – Two Day

About Course
In this two-day training, Tracy will equip spiritual accompaniers with a deeper understanding of how trauma is held in the body’s nervous system and how to offer spiritual accompaniment to individuals with trauma through an Ignatian lens.
Day One focuses on cultivating a sense of safety with God by learning to regulate the nervous system, exploring images of God that may hinder a deeper relationship with the Divine, and practicing Ignatian prayer as a grounding experience in God’s loving presence.
Day Two offers experiential opportunities to engage trauma- sensitive approaches to Ignatian prayer. Participants will learn practical ways to foster safety within their own bodies while partnering with God as a compassionate and trustworthy friend for those they accompany. The training also includes guided reflection, discussion with small groups, and exploration of best practices for accompanying individuals who have experienced varying degrees of trauma.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the relationship between trauma, the nervous system, and spiritual formation, along with practical tools for offering compassionate, Ignatian accompaniment to individuals with trauma.
